ROOF MASTER 1.8 AWK ATEX

It is the first underground bolting machine fully certified for operation in environment with a high explosion risk (ATEX group I, category M2, 150^o C). An on-board gas detection system is designed for both driving and drilling modes. As soon as the GENERAL alarm concentration of dangerous gases is reached, a visual and audible warnings in the operator’s cabin are given. As soon as the HIGH alarm concentration is reached the system stops the diesel engine or electrical powerpacks, depending on the work mode. All components of the machine, including electric and hydraulic systems, diesel engine and even tires have gone through a certification process in accordance with the European Union Directive (explosion proof ATEX).

The bolting mast has been equipped with a carousel type magazine for 8 bolts. The machine has the ability of two types of drilling. The first - drilling holes of 33 mm diameter in soft rock, up to 50 MPa - rotary type with air blowing; the second - drilling holes of 42 mm diameter in hard rocks, up to 160 MPa - rotary-percussive type with air-mist flushing. It is necessary to change the machine’s set-up to use different drilling methods. A 1000l water tank has been installed on the machine allowing for drilling around 120 bolts 1,8m in length while using the air-mist system thus no external water source is required.

An additional feature is the possibility to operate the machine from two power sources: electric network as well as diesel engine.
