Mine Master’s Face Master 1.7LE is a battery-powered underground drill rig designed for low-profile mining operations. The machine shares the same chassis as the diesel versions of the 1.7 series, maintaining familiar ergonomics and serviceability for operators and maintenance teams.
The 1.7LE was tested at the KGHM Lubin Mine, where it demonstrated stable performance, low noise levels and fully electric tramming while maintaining drilling efficiency comparable to diesel rigs.
Battery-electric mining equipment plays a key role in reducing emissions, heat and noise in confined underground environments. The Face Master 1.7LE uses a high-capacity onboard battery system, lowering ventilation requirements and improving air quality in low-profile headings.
Because the machine produces no exhaust fumes, miners benefit from safer working spaces and reduced exposure to harmful gases. Maintenance is simplified thanks to fewer components compared to diesel systems, and energy costs decrease due to electric charging and regenerative braking.
The Face Master 1.7LE was developed for headings starting from approximately 1.7–1.9 meters. It retains the compact size, accuracy and boom geometry of the diesel-powered Face Master 1.7 series while offering a quieter, cleaner and more efficient alternative for room-and-pillar or narrow-vein mining.
The unified chassis platform allows mines already using 1.7-series rigs to integrate the electric version smoothly into their existing fleet.
